The staircase is one of the first places I’d want to use for portraits.

It’s dramatic without feeling overly complicated, making it a beautiful backdrop for bridal portraits, wedding-party photographs, and your entrance into the ceremony.

It also gives us a little more dimension than a standard flat-wall portrait.

The Hanging Chandeliers

The chandeliers are one of my favorite details inside the venue.

They add an elegant feel to the reception space and become especially beautiful once the room is fully lit for the evening.

They’re also one of those details that help make your reception photographs feel like your wedding, rather than generic dance-floor photographs.

The Ceremony Space

The elevated ceremony area gives us clean sightlines and a beautiful focal point for your vows.

This is one of my favorite things about the venue.

If I were photographing your wedding at Ellis County Event Center, one thing I’d really want to protect in your timeline is 20–30 minutes outside around sunset.

You have this big open field right outside the venue, and when the light starts getting softer, it gives us a completely different look from the elegant indoor reception space.

That contrast is valuable.

You can have your grand staircase portraits.

Your chandelier-filled reception photographs.

And then a few quiet portraits outside with just the two of you and the evening sky.

You don’t have to spend an hour away from your guests to get those photographs.

Sometimes 20 minutes is all we need.

And honestly, those few minutes can become one of my favorite parts of your wedding day because it gives you a chance to step away, breathe, and remember that you’re actually married now.

A Real Ellis County Event Center Wedding: Daniel & Madi

Then when I pull you outside for portraits, you can actually relax.

You don’t have to wonder what’s happening inside.

Someone else has it.
